The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is a prestigious annual thematic International Robotics Competition engaging students aged 8 to 22. With a vibrant global community of over 28,000+ teams from 100+ member countries, WRO has been inspiring young minds in STEM since 2006. WRO India, the nation’s premier platform for this global event, is gearing up for another exciting season! As the World Robot Olympiad enters its 20th year, WRO India Season 2026 promises to be a transformative experience, aligning with the global participation.
This year, the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is a global stage where students harness the rapidly evolving power of robotics to tackle real-world problems. For the 2026 challenge, we urge participants to look beyond purely technical applications and consider how robotics can become a vital tool to express, preserve, and share the unique heritage, arts, and human stories that form the very foundation of global culture and identity. Under the theme: “Robots Meet Culture”. We encourage Elementary, Junior, and Senior category teams to delve into cutting-edge technologies and envision robots that could revolutionize industries, enhance daily life, and tackle global challenges through their ingenuity. Participants will compete in engaging categories including Future Innovators, RoboMission, RoboSports, and Future Engineers, pushing the boundaries of creativity and problem-solving.
The journey to the International Championship, to be held in Puerto Rico (USA), unfolds through a structured series of virtual and in-person regional and national events. Teams will advance through three levels: the Level-1 Virtual Championship, the Level-2 Regional Championship, and the highly anticipated Level-3 National Championship. The progression criteria vary according to each game category.
WRO India remains committed to inclusivity, offering one free team registration per participating school in Future Innovator Category. Since its inception in 2006, the India STEM Foundation continues to drive WRO India Season 2026, with the valuable support of the National Council of Science Museums.
