Visual Interpretation Contest

Contest Rules:

In association with the Royal Society of Chemistry – Eastern India Section, Mendeleev Madeover Contest is Birla Industrial and Technological Museum’s initiative to recognize and reward innovation, ingenuity and intelligence in visual interpretation of the iconic Periodic Table and its numerous Elements.

Competition Themes:

MIDDLE SCHOOL (Classes VI to VIII)

THEME: ‘Everyday Elements’

AIM: Compare observable everyday materials or chemical changes seen in them

MEDIUM:

(i) Still (photo, drawing, painting or other artwork)

(ii) Moving (animation/video upto 5 minutes of duration)

AND

300-word description explaining how the artwork addresses the theme.

HIGH SCHOOL (Classes IX to XII)

THEME: ‘Alternative Periodic Table’

AIM: Devise alternative methods of representation of Mendeleev’s Periodic Table

MEDIUM:

(i) Still (photo, drawing, painting or other artwork)

(ii) Moving (animation/video upto 5 minutes of duration)

AND

300-word description explaining how the artwork addresses the theme.

What are the requirements?

Residing in Kolkata, studying in classes VI to XII
Photograph and school identity card, attesting your identity
Original Artwork / Photograph / Video / Animation addressing the competition theme
300-word description highlighting what you would like us to know about your entry

All entries should be made individually. They will be judged on creativity, scientific merit, and demonstration of novelty through image and description.

The deadline to apply is 24^th November, 2019.

By submitting an entry to the Mendeleev Madeover Contest, you agree that your contribution may be publicly displayed along with your name. All material has to be original and content that is appropriated from other sources without written consent from the original creators will not be published. Entries which are incomplete or incomprehensible may be voided at our discretion.

Mendeleev Madeover Contest winners will be notified of the competition result by email and on our website or social media channels. Our decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entered into.
